San Francisco is a city defined by fog — both literally and figuratively. While a marine layer can obscure city streets and iconic views, a vibes mayor can obscure reality with shitty social media pandering.
But as always, the devil is in the details, and the details prove that Daniel Lurie is pursuing DOGE-like cuts to San Francisco’s city budget in an effort to create public gaps in services ripe for privatization.
Big surprise: a billionaire is trying to pass a budget friendly to billionaires.
Public Transportation:

For the rich, public transportation is nice to have, for the poor and working class, it’s an absolute necessity. And since you’ll never see Denim Dan or any of his wealthy friends waiting at the bus stop unless it’s for an Instagram post, naturally that means public transportation is on the chopping block. And there’s a reason for this. When a service provided by the government is reduced or disappears, demand for it doesn’t. This creates a gap that can be exploited by private companies.
And that’s exactly what’s happening.
Back in 2020, Market Street was made car-free. The only drivers allowed on the main drag of Downtown San Francisco were bus drivers. However, not long after Daniel Lurie became Mayor, he announced he was opening up Market Street to Waymo autonomous vehicles. That’s already shitty enough, but he’s doing it at precisely the same time as he attempts to gut MUNI’s budget. This isn’t an accident. It’s done by design. These cuts won’t only affect Market Street, but multiple bus routes across the city will be completely eliminated or have their service reduced.
Need to get somewhere across town, but can’t afford Waymo or an Uber? Daniel Lurie’s official policy is for you to go fuck yourself.
Ask anybody from the City — they’ll tell you MUNI is San Francisco’s lifeblood, and Daniel Lurie is a fuckin’ vampire.
Homelessness:

Homelessness isn’t an individual failing, it’s a symptom of a society that prioritizes profits over people. Even with all the services San Francisco has to combat the conditions on the streets, it’s far from enough. That’s why Daniel Lurie’s budget is such a slap in the face to his constituents. It cuts $104 million from the Homelessness and Supportive Housing Department. These cuts come as data shows Daniel Lurie’s encampment sweeps and mass arrests of drug addicts (many of which are unhoused) has led to a 50% increase in overdose deaths during his short tenure as mayor.
If judging by his policies alone, it appears Denim Dan wants the poor denim dead, or at the very least locked up.
Billionaire Birds of a Feather Fuck You Over Together:
Sam Altman is the most controversial techie since Elon Musk, and it’s no secret why. Back in 2016, he openly said that “AI will most likely lead to the end of the world, but in the meantime there will be great companies created with serious machine learning."
Despite understanding the risk to our jobs, privacy and the essence of our humanity, Sam Altman decided to push AI just so large tech companies can profit in the short term at the expense of literally… all of us.
This is the type of person Daniel Lurie put on his transition team. Not long after, Sam Altman was seen in Washington DC with every other tech oligarch imaginable kissing Donald Trump’s ring.
Conclusion:
Fuck Daniel Lurie’s social media posts. Fuck his inoffensive, awkward dad energy. Fuck everything he says. The only language that matters is the language in legislation, and when it comes to Daniel Lurie, his policies speak loud and clear. He’s an oligarch’s wet dream, and he doesn’t give a fuck about the average San Franciscan.
So thankful for journalists taking on this administration. Every other day, I’m filled with rage by some counterfactual coverage of Lurie and the rampant anti democratic agendas of astroturfing PACs funded by right wing tech douches, courtesy of Heather Knight, SF Bureau Chief for the New York Times.
Appreciate you!
Altman and Trump are birds of a feather, both conmen and grifters. Lurie said that he was going to get serious about the budget and then he EXPANDED the mayor’s staff budget. Not an auspicious beginning. He doesn’t have the temperament to get tough on crime or drugs, never had a job other than his nonprofit and was born into privilege. Also he immediately unfollowed all local journalists on Twitter as soon as he got into office. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but it really looks bad at this point
